Instead, every goal and save matters as you compete through tournaments featuring hundreds of teams from a mix of fantasy leagues and international competitions.
Choose a tournament, pick a team, and start working through the group stage. Finishing first or second is enough to reach the knockout rounds, where there is no room for a bad result. From there, the shootouts decide who stays in the competition.
A normal shootout gives each side five attempts. If the scores are still level after those kicks, the match moves into sudden death until someone finally breaks the tie.
You also have to handle both sides of the penalty. When shooting, watch the moving target and release at the right moment to send the ball toward the chosen part of the goal. Hold on too long, and the shot can sail over the bar. When defending, watch for the brief marker showing where the opponent is aiming, then react quickly enough to make the save.
Sending every penalty toward the same corner is asking for trouble. The goalkeeper can start anticipating your favorite spots, so mixing up your shots is important. The upper corners and hard shots into the lower corners can be difficult to stop.
With 360 teams and 12 different competitions, there is plenty of tournament soccer to play. The controls are simple, but winning consistently takes quick reactions and some careful shot placement.
