Blow Out is a tiny browser game with a wonderfully simple problem: there is a bomb, the fuse is burning, and you need to stop it before things go badly. Created by Michael Kent for the GMTK Game Jam 2026, the game strips the idea down to timing and reaction speed. There are no complicated controls to learn, but that doesn't mean it's easy.
The main challenge is keeping your eyes on the indicators rather than getting distracted by the frantic presentation. A marker moves through a success zone, and you need to release or time your input at the right moment to push the fuse back. Miss the window and that rapidly shrinking fuse becomes an even bigger problem.
The sound design adds another layer to the tension. Music can cut in and out depending on how well you're handling the situation, making a successful move feel different from a mistake. As the pace picks up, even a small delay can throw you off.
Blow Out is designed around quick attempts. When you mess up, you already have a better idea of what to expect on the next run, so jumping straight back in feels natural.
